On many occasions, searching CiviCRM (through the Find Members link of CiviMember) for an individual turns up nothing, though we can find that member just by browsing through all the listings.
For example, I entered "Norman" in the name search field and it returned zero results. However, there are at least three Normans in the CRM records.
